Falkland Oil and Gas to use Wavefield Inseis
for new 2D seismic survey
Bergen, Norway, 7 September 2006. Falkland Oil and Gas Limited (FOGL) has signed a contract with Wavefield Inseis AS (Wavefield) to undertake a 10,000 km 2D seismic survey, with onboard data processing, over the company's licences in the South and East Falkland Basins. Representing the second aspect of its revised forward exploration programme, FOGL's strategy will be to acquire CSEM data over many of the larger prospects and leads that have already been identified. Based on the results from the CSEM survey, Wavefield will acquire infill 2D seismic data over the most prospective targets in order to determine the best sites for exploration wells. Depending on the results of the survey, and the weather conditions, FOGL will also have the option to acquire additional 2D seismic over the 10,000 km project area. Due to commence in Q4 2006, with results announced early in 2007, the survey will deploy Wavefield's Bergen Surveyor vessel. Upgraded in April 2006, the Bergen Surveyor is equipped with some of the latest seismic equipment available including solid Teledyne SDS-55 streamer and dual Bolt Annular Port Gun source arrays. Tim Bushell, chief executive officer of Falkland Oil and Gas Limited, commented, "The proposed 2D seismic programme, in conjunction with the recently announced CSEM survey, will enable FOGL to further de-risk and identify the best prospects to drill in on its acreage in 2008." Wavefield's vice president sales and marketing, Rick Donoghue, added, "The contract award from Falkland Oil and Gas Limited is very significant for us and is an endorsement of our ability to meet the market's need for high-quality long offset 2D data. We look forward to completing a highly successful assignment."
